Mr. Owly

In mid Feb., a few girlfriends and I took a trip to Oklahoma for some R&R.  As you can see, it was GORGEOUS!

Look at that sparkling water!

What spawned out of that beautiful weekend was probably my favorite creation so far.  My Owl painting.  All I have is the progression, but I'll give a basic walk though.
I started with a blank canvas and just painted over purple.
I let that dry, and cut out what I wanted using scrapbook paper, and mod podged them to the canvas.

Next, I painted his branch.  In hindsight, I probably should have painted this part before I glued him down, but you live and learn right?

And then I added some leaves. ^^^ I love the leaf paper (it's music notes!).

The rest took me about a month to get to.  I added his rhinestone eyes and some ribbon in the corner.  And here's the finished product!  The black ribbon is velvet, and the white is lace.  A added one line of some vintage black and white, and some cream to bring out Mr. Owl himself.  Oh!  And of course I had to add some lace to his wing to give him some fluff :)

I just love him, don't you!?!
