Happy Crafter

It's getting closer to functional!  I love my new craft space in the new place!!!
Just installed the shelved today :D

Fabric Scrap Spring Wreath

I saw a St. Patty's Day wreath on Pinterest the other week, and decided to create my own spring/summer wreath for our front door.  This is probably the easiest this I've done yet!

Materials I used:
Wire Coat Hanger
Pliars
About (170-200) fabric scraps
Ribbon
White Paint

I molded the wire hanger with the pliars into the best circle I could, and then duct taped the ends together leaving the hook part for later.  And then I sat down for the most grouling part; to cut TONS of strips.  I cut them 1x6, but none of them are exact.  I figure, the messier the better :)  Oh, and I used all patterns, except for one, which is a pale yellow.

Then I tied them all to the wire, pushing them as close together as I could get them.  Finished it off with a bow and some white paint to cover the nasty hanger color, and voila! (I love that word)  <3

I love all the colors!  So springy!!!

Mirror Mirror

I've been looking for something for the wall behind the tv since we moved into the new place, but I didn't want to spend a fortune.  I tried searching around, but it seems everyone's into a different style than I am right now, so I was pretty much on my own.  I like rustic, but all I could find was country rustic, and that's not really me.  Here's what I came up with :)...

My materials included the following:
(1) mirror
(7) bamboo sticks I found at Lowe's
 Gorilla Glue
Assorted metallic paints
Black velvet ribbon

I started out arranging the bamboo on the mirror like so.

Looking back now, I'd like to think I would have painted the bamboo and taken the stickers off, but I've figured out by now that I like to do things the HARDEST was possible.

It took a LOT of weight to keep these boogers from coming up, and I still had to reglue a couple of them.

I used my leftover bamboo, and the other mirror (they came in a pack of 2) to make a smaller one.  I haven't finished it yet, but I'm pretty sure it'll be a gift.  I post after I give it away :)

Here it is after 1 coat of metallic black, and 1 coat of sequined metallic black.

I'm a messy painter ;)

And here's the finished product!!!

After painting it black, I went back around with silver to make it look like metal was showing through.  My camera makes it look like a lot more silver than there actually is.  It looks almost like knotted metal rods, so the nails actually suit it pretty well.

Mr. Owly

In mid Feb., a few girlfriends and I took a trip to Oklahoma for some R&R.  As you can see, it was GORGEOUS!

Look at that sparkling water!

What spawned out of that beautiful weekend was probably my favorite creation so far.  My Owl painting.  All I have is the progression, but I'll give a basic walk though.
I started with a blank canvas and just painted over purple.
I let that dry, and cut out what I wanted using scrapbook paper, and mod podged them to the canvas.

Next, I painted his branch.  In hindsight, I probably should have painted this part before I glued him down, but you live and learn right?

And then I added some leaves. ^^^ I love the leaf paper (it's music notes!).

The rest took me about a month to get to.  I added his rhinestone eyes and some ribbon in the corner.  And here's the finished product!  The black ribbon is velvet, and the white is lace.  A added one line of some vintage black and white, and some cream to bring out Mr. Owl himself.  Oh!  And of course I had to add some lace to his wing to give him some fluff :)

I just love him, don't you!?!

Key Holder

I wish I had taken more pictures of the LITTLE amount of material I used for this, but I'll get it :)

I saw this on Pinterest, and just had to make one for us.  I cannot count how many times my keys fall between the dang cushions of the sofa.  Especially over the weekends!

I got the frame at Michaels for a buck, Gorilla glued some hooks on the back, painted it, and viola!

And here's how it looks on the wall.
