Mother's Day weekend crafts and grub!

Mother's Day weekend was jam packed full of crafting and cooking in the Oesch/Burnett household!  First up, mom and I made my own Texas Rangers jacket/cardigan-ish like thingy (you like that?) from one of my Texas Rangers t-shirts.  It turned out so cute!  Here's the progression:

And here's me sporting it!

Go Rangers!!! :)

In the middle of all that, we were cooking up a storm.  I don't have pics of the zucchini cake, but I did take pics of our yummy scallops!  I just marinated them in soy and lime, and they were scrumptious!  Hubby got the burger ;)

Before the grill:

And after:

Oh so tasty!
Again, I REALLY wish we had taken pictures of the cake I make mom.  I made a zucchini cake last year, but it didn't even come close to how good this one was!

Lastly, we finished off the new candle holders I purchased from the last Celebrating Home party I went to.  I just had to to them in the 4th of July theme, and they look awesome!

Happy Anniversary!

April 20th was our 5 year wedding anniversary, and I wanted to do something different this year.  Something that was really from the heart.  And since I've been crafting so much lately, and our bedroom is a little lackluster in the decoration department, what better idea than to paint something for him!
I started with a large, blank canvas, and painted it black.  Then I took a sponge brush and just gently swiped back and forth with a few colors that go with our bedroom.

Of couse I had to make a plan of what I wanted :)...

I love my company every time I start a new project.  My sweet babies...

Anyways, after printing out the letters I wanted, I laid them out and Mod Podged them to the canvas.

Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" is our song, so I chose the part of they lyrics that mean the most to us.  Whether times are good or bad, happy or sad.
I finished it off with an outline of white to make it stand out, and went over it one more time with the Mod Podge just so everything looked even.

He loves it!  Now on to new sheets and comforter!
